2 Teens Linked To Fairfax Carjacking Injured In High-Speed Chase

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA — Two teens wanted for stealing a vehicle near the Vienna/Fairfax GMU Metro Station and a carjacking in Merrifield on Friday morning are in the custody of the Albemarle County Police Department, according to the Fairfax County Police Department.

FCPD officers responded around 5 a.m., on Friday, to the Vienna/Fairfax-GMU Metro Station for the report of a stolen 2021 Jeep Compass. Police determined that two suspects took the vehicle, which was left running and unoccupied.

Officers were then summoned around 6 a.m. to the 8100 block of Porter Road in Merrifield for the report of a carjacking. Two suspects approached an occupied 2022 Toyota Camry, pulled out a firearm and forced the driver out of the vehicle, according to police. Before leaving in the Camry, one of the suspects assaulted the victim, who suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators determined that the Jeep stolen earlier in the day had become disabled and was abandon near the Camry. The suspects drove off before officers arrived on the scene.

Around 7:38 a.m., a police officer in Albemarle County spotted the Camry moving erratically along southbound Seminole Trail/Route 29, according to police. The officer determined that it was the same car stolen earlier in the day in Merrifield.

The officer tried to make a traffic stop, but the driver sped off at a high rate of speed down Seminole Trail. At the Greenbrier Drive intersection, the car struck two other vehicles.

The two suspects, one 16 and the other 17, were taken to UVA Medical Center. Although one of the teen sustained non-life-threatening injuries, the other was in serious condition, according to police. A firearm was located in the vehicle.
