4 Unlawful Machine Guns Result In Guilty Plea For Fairfax Man: Court

FAIRFAX, VA — A 67-year-old Fairfax man pleaded guilty on Friday to one count of possessing an unlawful machine gun, according the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia.

Timothy Lawrence Carll admitted in court that he possessed four fully automatic machine guns. These included an AK-style rifle, a Thompson M1 submachine gun, a Sterling submachine gun, and a PPSh-41 submachine gun, according to court documents. Carll also admitted in court that he knew that four metal tubes in his possession were designed and intended to convert a weapon into a machine gun, specifically as part of various Sten submachine guns.

At the time of his arrest, Carll did not have a valid Federal Firearms License or a Special Occupational Tax as required for someone possessing these machine guns, according to court documents.

Carrl has an April 19 court date for his sentencing. He faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.
