Slice Of Matchbox Pizza Restaurant To Begin Serving On Thursday

FAIRFAX CITY, VA — Slice of Matchbox in Fairfax City will be open for lunch and dinner at 11 a.m. on Thursday, according to a notice taped to the restaurant's front window. The notice also said staff training was underway.

Located at 10408 Fairfax Blvd. in the Point 50 shopping center, the Fairfax City pizza shop is the latest to come from the Matchbox restaurant chain, which already has five locations in Virginia, two in Florida, and three each in Maryland and Washington, D.C.

Specializing in wood-fired pizza and elevated American bistro fare, Matchbox opened its first Washington, D.C. restaurant in 2003, according the company's website. The Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington named it "Best New Restaurant" of 2003.

Across the Point 50 parking lot, the Big Buns restaurant also appears to be opening soon, although the company did not respond to an email from Patch asking for more details.

Big Buns recently opened new locations in Vienna and the Franklin Farm Village Center.

At Big Buns, diners can pick from a selection of signature burgers or custom burger with a choice of toppings. Beef, veggie and Impossible burger varieties are available. Burgers can also be ordered as a bowl with three different menu options. As an alternative to burgers, grilled or fried chicken sandwiches round out the menu.

A notice taped to the front window at Big Buns says that the company is currently hiring full and part-time employees. Candidates can apply online or visit the restaurant at 10392 Fairfax Blvd. for more information.
