Dance Trance Studio Raises $11,000 on Kickstarter

After only two weeks, Dance Trance staff beat their goal amount thanks to 64 generous donations.

Dance Trance Studio, currently at 1277 Jefferson Davis Highway, recently raised over $11,000 on Kickstarter.

Dance Trace is a dance workout studio that offers a fun and supportive environment to exercise. It opened in a rented storefront in 2012 and offers 25 classes a week.

The studio started a crowdsourcing campaign on Nov. 18 with a $11,300 goal and the campaign ended Monday, Dec. 1 with the studio raising $11,450 from 64 backers.

On the campaign page, studio staff explain that they started the fundraiser because they plan to move from the space they currently rent on Jefferson Davis Highway to a stand-alone studio being built in East Village. A few unexpected permit fees put them over budget.

In the last 12 hours of their two-week-long campaign, the studio was less than halfway to their fundraising goal, but a push from social media and previous backers sent them over the top by the time the campaign finished.

After they reached their goal, Dance Trance staff thanked everyone who helped publicly on their Facebook page. “YOU made this happen!! YOU are awesome!!,” the page reads.

Construction on the new studio is expected to finish by Jan. 13, 2015.
