Eye-Catching Masks on Display at NOVA-Manassas

An art exhibition at the Manassas Campus of Northern Virginia Community College called “Masquerade” features masks created by students in painting, drawing and art history courses.

Some students painted masks on canvas while others embellished purchased masks with a variety of materials such as paint, markers, glitter and gems. Several students mounted masks on canvases or used other materials to achieve a 3-D effect. Both original designs and motifs inspired by famous artwork are included in the show.

“Masquerade” will be on display until Oct. 31 in the Colgan Hall gallery, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Fridays, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays.

A reception to meet the artists is scheduled for Oct. 29 from 12:30 to 2 p.m. The reception and exhibit are free and open to the public.
