$72K In Booze Taken From 15 ABC Stores In Fairfax County: Police

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA — Fairfax County Police detectives have charged a 27-year-old Washington, D.C. man and three juveniles in connection with a string of thefts at Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority stores across the county.

Detectives have been investigating a group of suspects that targeted ABC stores and loaded up carts with alcohol before fleeing the scene before police could respond. In total, the crew stole more than $72,000 in merchandise from ABC 15 stores, according to police.

Investigators were able to link Jomarice Evans, who had been arrested on May 27 by a neighboring jurisdiction on unrelated charges, to the ABC store thefts in Fairfax County. He was charged with five counts of grand larceny, five counts of larceny with intent to sell, five counts of transportation of alcohol, five counts of contributing to the Delinquency of a minor, destruction of property, and organized retail theft, according to police. Evans remains in custody in another jurisdiction.

With the help of the U.S. Marshals Service, detectives from FCPD's Fugitive Tracking and Apprehension Unit arrested three teens in the District and charged them with three counts each of grand larceny with intent to sell. Detectives are working to identify other people who may be linked to thefts at the following ABC stores:
