Kidnapped At Gunpoint In DC; McLean Man Forced To Drive To His Home

MCLEAN, VA — A McLean man was kidnapped at gunpoint early Sunday morning and forced to drive to his home and another location in Maryland, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.

Investigators determined that around 12:30 a.m., on Sunday, the victim had arranged to meet with the suspect at 25th Street and L Street, Northwest.

Upon his arrival, two suspects exited a vehicle and pointed handguns at him. They then forced the victim to drive them in his car to his home in McLean, where they stole money and other items from the victim. Then, the suspects forced the victim to drive them to District Heights, Maryland, where they got out of the car and fled the scene.

MPD is investigating the incident, with the help of the Prince George's County Police Department and Fairfax County Police.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact 202-727-9099. Tips can also be texted to MPD's TEXT TIP LINE at 50411. Anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for any crime in committed in the District is eligible for a reward of up to $10,000.

MPD is also encouraging residents to use designated Safe Exchange Zones if meeting up with people to complete transactions from online market platforms. These designated areas serve as a safe place for people to exchange goods or money in order to prevent pre-staged robberies. MPD also strongly encourages the public to be especially wary of meeting people who refuse to meet at a Safe Exchange Zone location.
