Dranesville District Supervisor John Foust said, “It is exciting to celebrate the opening of this wonderful addition and renovation to Spring Hill RECenter. The community has wanted an in-door gym at Spring Hill REC for a very long time. I’m glad that Kevin Fay, our former Dranesville Park Authority representative, and I were able to develop and execute a plan to make it happen. I also want to thank the Park Authority staff, architects, engineers and contractors who designed and built a beautiful and very functional facility for our community.”

This is a $10 million expansion funded by the 2008 and 2012 Park Bond programs. With the opening of the gym and fitness center, the public can now enjoy some of the benefits of the renovated facility.

The final phase of the project, converting the old fitness room into three multipurpose spaces and renovating the lower hallway area, will be completed by March 2015. The RECenter opened in 1988.

On Dec. 14, 2012, the Park Authority Board approved the FY 2013-FY 2015 Financial Sustainability Plan which included this project as a business growth initiative.
