Up To 14 Violations Found During Recent Woodbridge Restaurant Inspections

WOODBRIDGE, VA — Several facilities in the Woodbridge area recorded violations during recent health department inspections between March 27 and April 10.

Health inspectors conduct most restaurant, school, child care center and other health inspections in person. However, some visits, such as those for training purposes, can be conducted virtually.

Violations typically focus on factors that can contribute to food contamination. The local health department can also perform a re-inspection to ensure that possible violations have been corrected.

For every observed violation, the inspector provides a specific corrective action that can be completed to rectify the violation. Sometimes these are simple, and violations can be corrected during the course of the inspection. Other violations are addressed later, and an inspector may conduct a follow-up inspection to ensure compliance.

Here are the most recent inspections from the Woodbridge area, according to the Prince William Health District. The most violations were 14 at Hangry Joe's Hot Chicken.

• Mop sink has 'Y' splitter connected to faucet. Faucet has water line running to chemical station, bypassing the back-flow-prevention. Constant pressure being applied to back-flow prevention device.

• Employees handling food were observed to not be wearing proper hair restraints.
• The wet wiping cloths along the cook line (prep table and chicken pre-dip station) were not properly stored in the sanitizer bucket in between use.
• Scoop for rice in kitchen were observed to be improperly stored in between usage in standing water at room temperature.
• Single service portion cups being continuously used to dispense seasonings.
• Single service items were stored with the food contact surface directly exposed to possible contamination; boxes of single service cups and napkins stored on the floor in the front area.
• There is no test kit located in the facility for monitoring the concentration of the chemical sanitizing solution (quaternary ammonium).
• The receptacle in the unisex restroom used by the food service staff was not covered.
• Wet mop observed stored down in mop sink.
• Light bulbs in hood system burnt out.
• Adequate lockers or other suitable facilities are not provided for employees clothing and other possessions resulting in personal items being stored in the kitchen above food contact surfaces.
