WAUWATOSA, WI β€” Crime logs from the Wauwatosa Police Department showed that two people had catalytic converters stolen from their cars and another had their car stolen in crime logs from late February and early March.

Catalytic Converters Stolen, Owner Noticed Their Car Was Loud

A Wauwatosa man told police that the catalytic converter was stolen from his Toyota Prius without his permission, police said. The car was parked on the 5800 block of W. Wells Street.

A New Berlin woman told Wauwatosa police that she noticed her car was loud when she was driving home from the 2500 block of Wauwatosa Avenue, police said. When she got home, she checked her car and found that someone had stolen the catalytic converter.

Catalytic converters are a favorite for thieves for their easy removal and precious metals like palladium and platinum stored inside.

Someone stole a 2020 Kia Rio from a parking lot on the 3300 block of N. 124th Street, police said. The rear driver's side window was busted and the car eluded police during a chase.
