Hope is slowly returning in how the league values running backs in 2024.
Christian McCaffrey, Jonathan Taylor, Saquon Barkley and Josh Jacobs all got lucrative deals in the offseason. Seeing four of the best players at the position win at the negotiating table felt like a victory across the board for all running backs.
Players are more versatile than ever before, and the top-tier athletes can do much more than simply carrying the ball out of the offensive backfield. They can also block and line up at receiver. There are no shortage of opportunities to make an impact on the field for a running back.
Pro Football Focus handed out grades to all of the running backs in the league, and today, we’re looking at those grades for each of the projected starters for all 32 teams. Here’s how PFF graded the running backs ahead of the 2024 season:
