Alec Baldwin's Brothers and Daughter Ireland React to His Rust Case Dismissal: 'God Is Good'

Alec Baldwin's family is showing their support for the star after his involuntary manslaughter charge in his Rust case was dropped on Friday, July 12.

Shortly after the dismissal, Alec's three brothers — Stephen Baldwin, Daniel Baldwin and William Baldwin — and his 28-year-old daughter Ireland Baldwin shared posts on Instagram reacting to the news.

"Dismissed with Extreme Prejudice - nothing can stop what has been set into motion - Hallelujah," Stephen, 58, wrote in his caption. "👻 God is good 🙌🏽 love you bro 🎬 that’s a [wrap] !!!"

Stephen's reaction came after he supported his brother and attended his trial this past week. He paired his caption with a video, in which he used write-over text to quote a Psalm ("He will call on me and I will answer Him") while holding a bible as "Amazing Grace" played in the background.

Ireland, meanwhile, shared a throwback image of herself as a young child sitting on her father's lap as they smiled together on a couch. She captioned the photo with a single black heart emoji.

Alec's two other brothers also posted about the news on social media.

While William, 61, shared a handful of news reports about the dismissal on his Instagram Story, 63-year-old Daniel uploaded a candid video message on Saturday, July 13.

In the clip, Daniel revealed he and wife D'Asia were "unpacking" their bags after they were on their way to Santa Fe to show support for Alec.

"As I'm sure a lot of you heard, the case was dismissed, the judge saw through all the nonsense and for some legal reasons, so Alec has been exonerated and the case is done," Daniel said. "But I wanted to take the time to say thank you so much. I wanted to reach out to all those people who supported my brother, who have written so many lovely messages to me — and congratulations today for Alec"

"Thank you for all of the love and friendship, I really appreciate you and God bless you all," he concluded.

The decision in Alec's case came months after the 30 Rock alum was indicted by a grand jury in January, and nearly three years after the actor was rehearsing a scene on the set of his film Rust, when the gun he was holding discharged and killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injured director Joel Souza.

On Friday, Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer decided to dismiss the case with prejudice after Alec's defense attorneys argued that the prosecutors in the Rust case had buried evidence — specifically evidence that attorney Luke Nikas said would have shed light onto how live ammunition was brought on to the movie's set.

“The late discovery of this evidence during trial has impeded the effective use of evidence in such a way that it has impacted the fundamental fairness of the proceedings,” Sommer said during the trial.

Alec was originally charged with involuntary manslaughter and a firearm enhancement charge in January 2023, before those charges were dismissed in April 2023. He was indicted by a grand jury a year later before this week's dismissal — which means he cannot be charged with involuntary manslaughter again.

Speaking with PEOPLE this week, legal expert Emily D. Baker said the dismissal "ends the case against Alec Baldwin as a sanction for the prosecution and law enforcement violations of their discovery obligations to the Defense under Brady.”

Per the Brady rule, prosecutors must share any material evidence with the defense that could work in the accused's favor, which Alec's legal team argued was ammunition that a man named Troy Teske (a friend of the father of convicted Rust armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed) turned over that he thought was connected to the case. Nikas argued it was "critical evidence in the case that was never disclosed to us."

“It was clear how seriously the court took this issue,” Baker told PEOPLE. “Yesterday the prosecution had huge wins in court. Today the defense had their ultimate win in court with a dismissal. The result they have been fighting for in numerous motions over two prosecutions of Alec Baldwin. It doesn’t impact the civil cases still pending but ends any criminal responsibility for Alec Baldwin.”

Alec still currently faces civil lawsuits.
