The professional soccer players met for the first time when they both played for the United States Women's National Team. Almost one decade after they met, the professional soccer players tied the knot in December 2019. “It just feels like we’re kind of coming together as one," Krieger told PEOPLE at the time of their decision to wed. "We feel like we’re at a really good place and a really comfortable place and the age that we’re at, especially, we feel real confident in the foundation that we’ve built.” Krieger and Harris helped the USWNT win the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup Final, giving America its fourth championship in the tournament. They each have two World Cup wins to their name. Representatives for Harris and Krieger did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment. Shortly after their divorce was made public, a source told PEOPLE that "although it’s new information to the public," the couple's divorce "began months ago and they have been living apart since the summer."
