All About Jack Harlow's Parents, Maggie and Brian Harlow

Jack Harlow has taken the music industry by storm with the support of his parents, Maggie and Brian Harlow.

The couple have two sons, Jack and Clay Harlow. They welcomed Jack in March 1998, followed by Clay in November 2000.

The performer, songwriter and producer's debut album, That's What They All Say, hit the number-five spot on the US Billboard 200 chart, and in 2020, he won the best new artist award at the MTV Video Music Awards. As his career has taken off, he hasn't been home much and his parents miss him.

Jack told The Breakfast Club in 2022 that his mom sent him a text quoting the name of his album, Come Home the Kids Miss You. "She said come home your mom misses you," he said. "She was texting me last night. She was like, 'I feel like you're a balloon just floating away.' " Jack said that message got to him, and he had to have a long talk with her to reset himself.

Maggie and Brian have two children

Maggie and Brian raised their two children, Jackman “Jack” Harlow and Clayborn “Clay” Harlow in Louisville, Ky. Jack was born on March 13, 1998, and Clay arrived two years later on Nov. 23, 2000.

Clay told Rolling Stone in 2022 that he remembered how musical the family was from early on. “He and my mom would freestyle in the car,” he recalled.

The younger Harlow brother now plays a key part in Jack’s career. Interested in producing himself, he has worked on several songs with Jack, as well as fellow Louisville-raised artist, Bryson Tiller.

The couple own a business in their hometown

Brian and Maggie own a business called Signarama in downtown Louisville. According to the company's Facebook page, Signarama is a fixture in the local community when signs are needed.

"The Downtown Louisville location is known for creating amazing signs and being involved in not only helping grow businesses in their community but giving back to local organizations," one post reads. "Their team has won many awards over the years, including the Signarama Sign Awards, and continues to be one of our top-performing stores in the Signarama network."

His parents influenced his music career in different ways

Jack and Clay have often shared how important music was in the Harlow household growing up. When it comes to musical influence, Jack's parents had very different interests. Maggie introduced him to artists like Outkast, Eminem and A Tribe Called Quest, while his father helped him become a fan of country stars Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash and Johnny Paycheck, he told Billboard.

"It was interesting because those are obviously not that similar of genres. So I got a taste of both," Jack told the outlet. "Growing up, there were a lot of people my age who kind of scorned country. It was different for me because I had gotten a little taste for it.”

The Grammy nominee added, “My dad put me on to the classic stuff so I always liked the melodies. Hip-hop energized me and gave me confidence when I listened to it and it’s what my mom liked, so it was dope getting both worlds."

Maggie often volunteers in their hometown

Maggie loves to volunteer in her hometown. She has worked with Kosair For Kids, a charity that looks to improve the lives of children through financial support for healthcare, research, education, social services and child advocacy. She brought stories of Jack into her volunteer work when she was teaching young volunteers how to wrap holiday presents for children.

“All it takes to be a good wrapper is heart and patience, the same stuff Kosair Charities has been doing for 100 years,” Maggie said.

She then shared how teaching Jack how to wrap presents was a difficult job. “[That] may have been my hardest job as a mom. But I love my son and refused to give up,” Maggie said.

The mom of two was praised for her work by Kosair Charities President Barry Dunn. “The joy she brought to this fun project was infectious and spread to everyone involved,” he said. “Her passion for children of all abilities will have a direct impact on Kosair Kids and their families who rely upon our upcoming celebration as their source of holiday cheer.”
