It’s been three years since Ricky Gervais has hosted the Golden Globes but his brand of comedy comedy is still a mainstay at the annual fete.

Gervais was back on stage tonight to award the Golden Globe to Amy Adams for Big Eyes, but he predictably used his few moments at the mic to make a few wise cracks.

Clearly knowing that he’s always expected to take a few stars down, Gervais began by saying “no one wants to see me insult any of you rich, beautiful, over-privileged celebrities.”

“You are better than ordinary people,” he continued. “And you know that and they know that deep down.”

In fact, stars are so better than ordinary that “famous people are above the law… as it should be.”

“All the terrible things you have done to get here. Streep. Clooney. I’m not even looking at Katie Holmes.”
