During a June 1 concert in Green Bay, Wisconsin, the 34-year-old pop star instructed police to have multiple crowd members removed from the venue for throwing items her way — about a year after she was hit in the face with a phone during a New York City show. According to fan-filmed videos from the performance on social media, Rexha warned audience members about the consequences of hurling items toward the stage. "If you want to hit me in the face, I had them press charges to the other guy. I would love to become richer," she said, assuring fans she's making a "joke" and "not inviting that" behavior. "It didn't have to go that far," Rexha told the crowd, before apologizing for the disruption and restarting one of the songs in her set. Reps for Rexha did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment. The Grammy-nominated musician was previously hit in the forehead with a phone during her June 2023 concert at The Rooftop at Pier 17 in lower Manhattan, splitting her eyebrow and causing a black eye. She was then escorted off the stage, treated by a medical team at the venue and taken to a hospital where she received stitches. According to the criminal complaint at the time, Malvagna was taken into custody, admitted to throwing the phone and told police, "I was trying to see if I could hit her with the phone at the end of the show because it would be funny." At a Feb. 9 court hearing, Malvagna took an offer for his charges to be dismissed after completing 40 days of community service, as long as he doesn't violate a six-month order of protection.
