Watch Bradley Cooper and Carey Mulligan Crack Each Other Up as He Tries Singing in Welsh (Exclusive)

The two stars are Oscar nominated for their roles in 'Maestro'

Bradley Cooper's singing talents are no secret, but when he and his Maestro costar Carey Mulligan recently sat down for PEOPLE's annual Oscar portfolio, he showed off a new talent: singing in Welsh.

Mulligan shared that her love of music began as a child when her grandmother used to sing with her.

"My grandmother was Welsh. Singing is a huge part of Welsh culture and so I grew up singing and loving music" she said.

Upon learning this, Cooper asks Mulligan to sing a song in Welsh. When she hesitates, he does his best to belt out a tune in Welsh, which makes Mulligan break into laughter.

After Cooper is done singing, he quips that, "Marcus would be proud," referring to Mulligan's husband, musician Marcus Mumford.

Mulligan and Cooper are both nominated for their leading roles in Maestro, in which Mulligan, 38, plays actress Felicia Montealegre, the wife of legendary composer Leonard Bernstein, portrayed by Cooper, 49.

Mulligan says when she learned she had been nominated for an Oscar, her youngest child got quite the scare.

"When my name came up, everyone screamed, and my baby started crying," Mulligan, who shares three kids with Mumford, recalls.
