Kelly Rowland Marries Tim Weatherspoon in Costa Rica

Kelly Rowland really did tie the knot in Costa Rica over the weekend, PEOPLE has confirmed.

The singer, 33, married manager Tim Weatherspoon in an intimate ceremony during their island getaway. The couple kept things simple, hosting the festivities in two private residences and forgoing bridesmaids and groomsmen, a source tells PEOPLE.

About 30 guests attended the wedding. Destiny’s Child BFFs Beyoncé and Michelle Williams made the trip, along with Beyoncé’s sister Solange and her boyfriend. But Jay Z – whose post-Met Gala elevator fight with Solange has gone viral – stayed home with daughter Blue Ivy.

“Kelly was really happy, Tim was happy, and it was a great break for everybody from the normal grind, but now they’re all going back to work,” the source says.

She certainly stuck to her word: Rowland previously told PEOPLE that she wanted low-key wedding plans.

“I think we really just want it to be us and our pastor. That’s it,” she said in December. “I mean, we are the only two that [are] going to be in the marriage.”

Rumors of Rowland’s quiet nuptials surfaced earlier this week, when she and her former bandmates were spotted arriving in Costa Rica for vacation.

Back in December, Rowland channeled lifelong friend Beyoncé when announcing her engagement, quoting “Single Ladies.”

“He put a ring on it,” she said on The Queen Latifah Show.
