When Nate Berkus married his partner of two years, Jeremiah Brent, over the weekend, both knew it would be an emotional day, but they didn’t quite prepare for everything.

Take, for instance, when Sheri Salata, the president of OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network & Harpo Studios, who officiated the wedding, “accidentally knocked our ceremonial glass off onto the floor and it broke,” recalls Berkus, 42, the American Dream Builders host. “It was hilarious and something we’ll be laughing about 20 years from now!”

The couple, who had planned on the element of the glass breaking at the end of the ceremony, as a nod to Berkus’s Jewish heritage, thought it was hands down the funniest moment of the night.

But it wasn’t the only thing. Brent, 29, joked about his “inability to stop crying,” during the ceremony, which later had him laughing.

Adds the evening’s officiant herself, “It was the stunning honor of my life to be asked and a love bomb of an experience. I will never forget, nor will anyone who got to walk in to that blessing. Awe some,” she tells PEOPLE exclusively.
