It is no longer “love all” for tennis ace Caroline Wozniacki and golf star Rory McIlroy.

The high-profile sports couple have ended their engagement, which they announced on New Year’s Day via Twitter, after sending out their wedding invitations over the weekend.

“There is no right way to end a relationship that has been so important to two people,” McIlroy, 25, said in a statement reported by CNN. “The problem is mine. The wedding invitations issued at the weekend made me realize that I wasn’t ready for all that marriage entails.”

Continued McIlroy, currently ranked 10th in the world: “I wish Caroline all the happiness she deserves and thank her for the great times we’ve had. I will not be saying anything more about our relationship in any setting.”

The three-year relationship between the Irishman and the 23-year-old Danish beauty, who was formerly the world’s top player, was often dogged by rumors of trouble. But the couple seemed happy as recently as Sunday, when McIlroy Tweeted a photo of the two enjoying a beautiful waterfront dinner.

“Nice view for dinner with @CaroWozniacki at Nobu Monte Carlo,” he wrote, even adding a smiley face to the message.
