Following the news of Christina Hall’s surprise split from her husband Josh, HGTV fans are wondering about the status of the now-estranged couple’s highly-anticipated upcoming project.

On May 15, HGTV announced a new competition series called The Flip Off, that will feature Christina and Josh facing off against her ex-husband Tarek El Moussa and his new wife, Selling Sunset alum Heather El Moussa. The show would see both couples "throw down" and find out which duo can "find, buy, renovate and flip a house for the biggest financial gain," according to a release from the network.

The new show is a big deal for longtime fans of Christina and Tarek, as it marks the exes’ first time reuniting since their original series Flip or Flop ended after nine years in March 2022. (The pair split in 2016 but continued filming together for several more seasons of the hit show).

The Flip Off was supposed to premiere in 2025, but the fate of the series is now unknown following Christina and Josh's divorce filings this week.

Josh has been largely absence from the over-the-top promo videos that Christina, Tarek and Heather have been creating to tease the show in recent weeks.

Some of the clips feature just Christina and Heather — like when they jokingly cursed in each other’s faces and gave each other the middle finger. Others include Tarek mistaking Christina’s blonde locks for his wife's in an effort to poke fun at how fans think he has "a type."

Since the show was announced, Josh appears to have only filmed one short clip with Christina, Tarek and Heather in May. He did a couple more videos with Tarek, with the most recent one being a spoof of the 2008 film Step Brothers that was shared to both their Instagram accounts on June 13.

As of Thursday, July 18, neither HGTV nor the stars of The Flip Off have not announced any updates for the show.

Josh officially filed for divorce from Christina on Monday, July 15, according to court documents obtained by PEOPLE. A source close to Christina confirmed that the HGTV star is also filing.

Per the documents, Josh requested a dissolution of marriage due to "irreconcilable differences" nearly three years after the pair secretly tied the knot in a courthouse ceremony on Oct. 6, 2021. They later held another ceremony in Hawaii to celebrate their nuptials in September 2022.

Josh — who has made appearances on Christina’s other shows, Christina on the Coast and Christina in the Country — is also requesting spousal support from the HGTV host, per the filing.

Following news of their split, a source told PEOPLE that the couple were having marital troubles well before both parties filed for divorce. They “had issues in the marriage for quite some time," the insider said.

This is Christina’s third marriage. In addition to El Moussa, the designer was married to Celebrity IOU: Joyride host Ant Anstead. She shares daughter Taylor, 13, and son Brayden, 8, with El Moussa, along with son Hudson, 4, with Anstead.
