When Alli Maxfield discovered she was expecting her first baby with her husband Landon in February, she wanted to find a memorable way to share the news with their families.

Around the time they learned about the pregnancy, the Utah couple was also in the midst of building a house. Knowing their families would be coming from out of state to help them move, Alli came up with an idea to incorporate the home into a special announcement.

When their moving day arrived in April, Alli and Landon took her family — who had driven down from Washington State — on a tour of the house. The tour culminated in the room designated as their future nursery.

Inside the nursery's closet, they placed a bassinet and a small vinyl decal that read, "Baby Maxfield coming soon."

"My parents walked into the room and everyone started to freak out," Alli, who has four younger sisters and a younger brother, tells PEOPLE exclusively. "But my dad didn't get it right away. He was thinking that we were just really preparing early and putting a bassinet in there."

"My mom, as soon as she saw it, she totally got it and then because she started screaming, my dad was like, 'Oh, I understand now,' " she adds.

After the reveal, Alli posted a video of the special moment taken by her husband on TikTok, which has since gone viral with 1.3 million views and over 2,500 comments.

"In the video, my younger siblings, who are still quite little, are running around the house," Alli explains. "While I was trying to keep everyone in one place, they actually ran into the room first, and the closet couldn't close all the way because of the bassinet."

"You can hear their little gasps, it's really cute," she adds.

Looking back on her pregnancy journey, Alli reflects on how challenging it was to keep it a secret from her family before the big reveal. She talks to her mom multiple times a week, so it was particularly difficult, especially while dealing with morning sickness.

Just a week after the reveal, Alli found out she is having a girl, and her mom stocked that same nursery with baby outfits.

"As hard as it was to keep it a secret, I'm really glad that it turned out the way it did," she says.

"I've always been the type to film everything that happens," she adds. "As annoying as that probably is to some people, I just love to have those memories."
