Angel Reed, the mother of the former American Idol contestant’s 4½-year-old daughter Malena, told officers that Maroulis had thrown her on the ground before kicking her, but Maroulis’ rep denied her allegation and said that Reed had thrown things and swung at her ex-boyfriend. “He consequently left their home to protect himself and to diffuse the situation,” the rep told the New York Daily News. “Sometime later the local police came home and arrested him for domestic abuse.” After meeting on Broadway during Rock of Ages, Maroulis, 39, and Reed, 34, dated for six years before he recently broke the news that he was leaving her, which is reportedly what caused the alleged fight. Maroulis was later released on bail.
