Dia Nash is celebrating her mom Niecy Nash-Betts' happiness!

The 24-year-old actress — who recently made her Lifetime movie debut in Sister Wife Murder — exclusively tells PEOPLE about the advice she gives her mom and how Nash-Betts, 54, is becoming the best version of herself.

"Sometimes [we’re] having conversations and I just be like, 'You don't care what them people think. We ain't got to care what them people think,'" Dia, who costarred with her mom in Monster, says. "People are going to think what they want to think, they're going to say what they're going to say. And at the end of the day, you just got to be yourself."

"I always tell my mom to be herself, and I feel like right now she's probably the most herself that she's felt," she adds. "And I'm happy for her."

Nash-Betts' youngest daughter celebrated her Lifetime movie debut alongside her mom, her grandmother Margaret Ensley, her father Don Nash and Nash-Betts' wife Jessica Betts at the movie's premiere on Thursday, July 11 at the Regal at Sherman Oaks Galleria Theater in Los Angeles.

The Emmy winner wed Betts, 42, in August 2020 and told E! at Emmy Awards in January that her secret to a happy marriage is to "skinny-dip often" and "drink lots of champagne."

On an October 2022 episode of The Tamron Hall Show, the Never Have I Ever star said Dia prompted her to think about how she identified on the sexuality spectrum after her relationship with Betts began.

"My daughter was like, 'How do you identify?' I said, 'Huh?' " Nash-Betts recalled, adding that she answered, "Black and your mama,"

She said she watched shows on the topic of sexual orientation and labels with Dia, but they confused her.

"If I have to coin it in the moment, I would say I'm Jess-sexual,' " the Claws star recalled telling her youngest child. "I've never looked at anyone, male or female, and seen them the way I see her. So I don't know. But right now I know I'm happy, I said, 'Write that down.'"
