Holland Taylor Doesn’t Think She and Sarah Paulson Will Get Married: ‘We’ve Never Talked About It’

Holland Taylor is getting candid about her future with partner Sarah Paulson.

During an appearance on SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live Thursday, Aug. 8, the Emmy-winning Morning Show actress, 81, was asked if wedding bells are in the the cards for her and the American Horror Story actress, 49. And it turns out, despite their commitment to one another, the longtime partners don't plan on making it official.

“I don't think so,” she admitted to host Andy Cohen. "We've never... no. We've never talked about it with any interest. It doesn't seem to mean to us what it means to a lot of people.”

She went on to discuss their 34-year age gap. "I mean, we have a big generational difference between us, which worries me for her sake," Taylor said. "But, you know... what can I do?"

Also in the chat, Taylor opened up about the depth of their bond despite the decades between them.

“We do have a wonderful resonance,” she said. “We are very interested in the same kinds of things, and yet we share big differences."

And while the place they are in their lives has given them outlooks that aren't identical, Taylor said she's able to relate to Paulson.

“... A lot of the things that she's going through that are very emotional and important to her right now, I went through, you know, 40 years ago, 30 years ago,” she shared. “And she brings them up in my memory and I think, ‘Oh, of course this is hard. Of course, that's hard,’ or ‘Of course that's great. Of course, that's important to her.’ "

Paulson and Taylor first met at a party in 2005 before reconnecting on social media almost a decade later. The Bear star shared on a 2019 appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohne that Taylor slid into her DMs after they followed each other. 

Taylor initially revealed their relationship and opened up about their age gap during an interview with the radio station WNYC in 2015, saying, "There's a very big age difference between us which I'm sure shocks a lot of people, and it startles me. But as they say, 'If she dies, she dies.’ ”

A month later, PEOPLE confirmed the pair were together as several sources said they had been dating for "a couple months." They also made their first public appearance as a couple at the opening night of Broadway's School of Rock in New York City a few months later.

Since then, the couple has attended numerous red carpet events together and have shared some insight into their relationship through various social media birthday tributes and interviews over the years.

Last year, Paulson praised Taylor as the “smartest, wisest, funniest, most extraordinary person I've ever met” during an appearance on Chelsea Handler's Dear Chelsea podcast.

"I can't imagine not being with her. I just can't,” she continued. “I just feel very, very lucky to be around someone so incredibly witty and funny and smart and, I think, incredibly sexy."
