Jenna Bush Hager Says Her Cat ‘Jumped’ Out Her 3rd Story Window Over the Fourth of July Holiday: ‘She Was Fine!’

It was raining cats and dogs over the Fourth of July holiday – well, Jenna Bush Hager's cat, to be exact.

On Tuesday, July 9, Hager took to Today alongside co-host Hoda Kotb to recall a particularly harrowing experience involving her cat, Hollywood Hager, while her family was celebrating the Fourth of July holiday weekend.

"Do y’all want to know what happened to me? We were on vacation over the Fourth of July in Martha’s Vineyard," she began. "It was our last day. I woke up early to meditate. I was sitting on the porch, having a cup of coffee, looking out into the sky. Doing my meditation. You can picture me, right?"

She continued, "All of a sudden, I hear this [imitated cat screech]. And I open my eyes and Hollywood Hager has flown — seemingly falling out of the sky, raining cats and dogs, right in front of me on the porch."

The shocking story led Kotb to inquire "What happened?" To which Hager explained, "The third-floor window was open and she had knocked the screen out and jumped out of the window."

"Are you kidding?" Kotb further inquired, to which Hager replied, "No I am not."

When Kotb asked if Hollywood "landed right by" the star, Hager explained that the feline fell "right in front of me! And I was like, ‘Oh my God, are you okay?’ I was like, ‘Hollywood Hager, are you okay?’ And she was fine!"

Hotb joked in response that Hollywood exhibited "the 9 lives thing, that’s what that’s about," further calling the situation "unbelievable."

"And it was the day I was taking the kids to camp so had I … can you imagine?" Hager retorted. "But I took her in, I woke up Mila. She’s fine. But can you believe that?"

The star and daughter of former President George W. Bush has remained open about her deep love for her two cats, including her more recent addition to the family, Mr. Mango Mellow, whom the star gifted to her younger daughter Poppy for Christmas last year.

Mr. Mango Mellow and Hollywood, who came home during Christmas 2023, became quick friends, with Hager sharing at the time that Hollywood was "happy to have a baby brother" and that the two cats were spooning.

Most recently, Hager announced in March that Hollywood and Mr. Mango Mellow are getting married, telling Kotb during a Today episode "We’re having a ceremony!" Despite this, no details were shared after the mention regarding any supposed wedding between the two pets.
