Jimmie Allen Clarifies Twins Were Conceived with Longtime 'Friend' While He and Wife Were 'Not Together'

"At the time that she got pregnant, I wasn't with Lexi, and [Danielle] wasn’t with her husband," the country singer explained

Jimmie Allen is discussing the marital circumstances surrounding the birth of his twins last summer.

Speaking to Kathie Lee Gifford in an interview released on his YouTube channel on Tuesday, April 23, the country singer detailed the timeline in which his fraternal twins — daughter Aria and son Amari — were born before he got back together with his estranged wife Lexi. (The two are now in the process of divorcing.)

"[The twins have a] different mother — my friend Danielle. I’ve known Danielle for years. Way before I became 'Jimmie Allen.' And at the time that she got pregnant with the twins, I wasn’t with Lexi, and [Danielle] wasn’t with her husband," Allen, 38, said.

"But it’s interesting just watching how life happens whether you plan it or whether you’re ready for it or not. So Danielle was pregnant first, because me and Lexi weren’t together when Danielle got pregnant. Twins were born first," he continued, revealing that they were born last June. "Then me and Lexi decided we wanted to try to work on [our relationship]."

When the news of the twins' birth broke, Allen said the truth was misconstrued.

"I decided to post my twins on my Instagram, and it went everywhere. These articles come out, ‘Jimmie Allen Gets Married Superfan Pregnant.’ That couldn’t be farther from the truth. She’s not a superfan. She’s a friend. And she wasn’t with her husband and I wasn’t with my wife," he said.

"I am healing and growing for me and my children," he continued.

The "Best Shot" singer also went on to explain that he got advice from someone who said he needed to fix his marriage — even though he knew deep down it was over.

"I said, ‘Why?’ He said, 'Well, it just looks good.' But why? If I know that I don’t want to be in a relationship and I don’t want to be married and I know that she’s not the person for me, and I’m not the person for her, why would I do that again to her? Why would I do that again to myself? It’s gotta be right."

Elsewhere in the interview, Allen revealed that he wasn't ready for marriage when he and Lexi tied the knot in 2020 (and again in 2021) — but felt pressured by those around him.

“When I got married, I knew I wasn't ready to be a husband,” Allen said. “But I was at this point in my life where it felt like I should do that because I heard constantly, ‘You should be married, you should be this.’”

Allen and Lexi filed for divorce in April 2023 but reconciled shortly after. Months later, Allen welcomed the twins in the summer and Lexi gave birth to her and Allen's third child, son Cohen, in September. The former spouses are also parents to daughters Naomi, 4, and Zara, 2. Allen is also dad to son Aadyn, 9, from a previous relationship.
