It has been almost 30 years since Full House aired its final episode, but costars John Stamos and Dave Coulier are still as close as can be.

On Thursday, Stamos, 60, took to Instagram to wish Coulier a happy 64th birthday with a video tribute, including a treasure trove of photos spanning their decades-long friendship.

Narrated by Stamos and with “You’re My Best Friend” by Queen playing in the background, the montage video begins with a grainy clip of the original cast of Full House.

Dubbed over it, the star says, “[Creator] [Jeff] Franklin sets up a chemistry lunch with me and Dave Coulier, an up-and-coming comedian who was up for the role of Joey Gladstone. Dave waxes on a bit too seriously about comedy and specifically his comedy and how it sets him apart from other comedians.”

The tribute continues with clips of Coulier in 1989 before fast-forwarding to more recent footage of the pair. Stamos quips, “As soon as I get home, I call Jeff: ‘You're kidding me, right? That guy is what we call NF, not funny.’"

Afterward, Stamos includes a clip of Coulier performing a stand-up comedy routine. He notes, “The next night Jeff drags me out to Igby’s Comedy Cabaret. Dave walks on stage and blows my mind for the next hour and a half, it’s a brilliant performance. He has this Robin Williams sense of rapid-fire impressions."

This is followed by footage of Coulier appearing on The Oprah Winfrey Show, as well as alongside Stamos on Full House. The actor concludes the narration by saying, “I go backstage: ‘And why couldn’t you have done that at lunch and saved me a 45-minute car ride?’ He laughs, I hug him and tell him how talented he is. I can’t wait to work with him.”

The video continues with a slideshow of images of Stamos and Coulier accompanied by friends, family and even the late Bob Saget, who famously starred alongside the two in the ABC sitcom.

Stamos captioned the heartwarming video with “Happy birthday to my brother. You are a gift in my life! Love you always @dcoulier.”

Full House ran on ABC from Sept. 1987 to May 1995, spanning for a total of eight seasons. The series followed widower Danny Tanner (Saget) as his best friend Joey Gladstone (Coulier) and brother-in-law Jesse Katsopolis (Stamos) move in to help him raise his three daughters.

Aside from Stamos, Coulier, and Saget, it also starred Candace Cameron Bure, Jodie SweetinMary-Kate and Ashley OlsenLori Loughlin,  Scott Weinger and Andrea Barber.

A spinoff series was later developed called Fuller House, with most of the cast reprising their roles. It premiered on Netflix in February 2016 and ran for five seasons, before concluding in June 2020.

Over the years, the cast has remained close, often gathering for events, celebrations, and most recently, at 90s Con in Tampa, Florida. During their panel, Coulier joked about how Saget — who died unexpectedly in 2022 from a traumatic head injury — is still unexpectedly present in his life, and his phone.

“I’m still opening texts that he sent me. That’s how many he sent me,” Coulier quipped during the Full House panel, which was moderated by PEOPLE Senior Editor Breanne L. Heldman.

He also spoke about the bond the cast still have today. "You usually do a show, and when the show wraps everybody kind of walks away and you might see them once in a while," Coulier said. "This is… I can’t get rid of these guys."

Citing their real-life events, Coulier continued: "We’ve been through everything that a family goes through — births and deaths, and marriages and divorces, and breakups and relationships, and pickups and cancellations. We’ve been through everything — well, families don’t get picked up or canceled," he said before adding a quip about cancel culture, "Well, in this culture nowadays."

Coulier's sentiment mirrored the unconditional support that viewers of Full House fell in love with as they watched the Tanner family grow. "You know, we’ve just kind of been there through so much. Life is a roller coaster, and we’ve been there for each other through all of it," he said. "It’s just amazing that when we do see each other, it’s like no time has passed. Everything just kind of clicks in, and I’m forever grateful for that."
