Kate Middleton’s Wimbledon Outfit Included Two of Her Go-To Styles — Shop Midi Dresses and Top-Handle Bags from $20

The real Wimbledon winner? Kate Middleton. 

The Princess of Wales, 42, returned to the public eye by attending the gentlemen’s final of the English tennis tournament on July 14 in a quintessential Kate look. She wore a classy midi-length dress — one of her go-to styles — in an eye-popping purple color that had a special meaning. Additionally, she wore some slingback heels, which she matched to another one of her favorite styles, a top-handle purse. 

The outfit couldn’t have been more proper for the day. The dress’s short sleeves are the second-best breezy option next to spaghetti straps, which would pass neither royal style rules nor Wimbledon dress code. It also looked super lightweight with a nice flounce and bounce to it. (In other words, it let some air in.) 

Top-handle bags, which we’ve seen the Princess of Wales carry before, have just the right amount of function and allure. Instead of using a casual crossbody bag, this style lends an elegant air and complements the dress by giving it space. And though compact, it can still hold essentials like a phone and some snacks.

Btfbm A-Line Pleated Hem Midi Dress

If you want Kate’s dress, you’ll have to shell out over $1,600 for her Safiyaa pick. For me, though, I’d be perfectly content with this Amazon midi dress, which is on sale today. With the belt on, it would have a similar fit-and-flare silhouette, and without, it’d be another comfortable option to throw on when I don’t feel like wearing tight pants. The dot pattern is similar to the dress she wore to last year’s Wimbledon, but more monochrome. 

Charles & Keith Violetta Trapeze Top-Handle Bag

This Charles & Keith bag is a solid day-to-night staple that has double the use. It has both a top handle and a crossbody strap, so I can switch up how I carry it depending on the occasion, effectively dressing the look up or down. It’s from a brand that we’ve seen Jennifer Lopez wear, so I know I’m in good fashion company. The beige is both very summer-ready and plays nicely with winter whites.
