Margot Robbie Ditches Pink with Her Modern Black Governors Awards Dress

Robbie is a major awards season contender thanks to her role as the titular iconic doll in Greta Gerwig's 'Barbie'

Margot Robbie attended Tuesday's Governors Awards dressed in a sleek modern black gown.

The Critics Choice Awards-nominated actress, 33, ditched her traditional Barbiecore-inspired red-carpet fashions, opting for a form-fitting floor-length gown with cutouts.

Tuesday's dress, by Celine by Hedi Slimane, had a silver design along its plunging neckline and was paired with a pair of Fred Leighton 1950s diamond and platinum waterfall earrings and Kwiat rings, plus Manolo Blahnik heels.

Robbie and her stylist, Andrew Mukamal, have been bringing some of Barbie's most iconic looks to life on the red carpet since the movie's premiere, and they're showing no signs of slowing down.

On Sunday, Robbie arrived at the Golden Globe Awards in a custom Giorgio Armani Privé hot pink gown with sequins paired with a pink tulle boa. The look was a direct homage to the 1977 SuperStar Barbie doll. The actress changed into an elegant black version of the dress at the 2024 Golden Globes afterparty at Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles.

Other Barbie styles Robbie has replicated on red carpets since the film took the box office by storm include 1992's Earring Magic Barbie, the Solo in the Spotlight Barbie from the '60s and Brunette Bubble Cut Barbie from 1962.

At the film's L.A. premiere, Robbie told PEOPLE that the nostalgic dresses are a nod to Barbie's longtime fans.

"We're finding Barbie references from decades past and just doing it really for the big Barbie fans out there, people who are actually collecting those Barbies," she said. "We're hoping to get them excited. We're pairing Barbie references with great designers."

Her hairstylist, Bryce Scarlett, echoed the same sentiments in his conversation with PEOPLE, adding that they always strive to ensure "Margot's modern glamour shines through."

"This press tour has been more creative and inspired than anything we've done before. Having such a clear and iconic template to build off of has been a dream," Scarlett told PEOPLE in July.
