Megan Thee Stallion and Justin Timberlake have made it clear they don’t have any “savage” words for each other — only really nice ones.

After fans speculated that a viral video caught the rapper, 28, and the pop star, 42, arguing backstage at the 2023 MTV VMAs on Tuesday, the two superstars clarified that they only have nice things to say about each other.

On Wednesday after the award show, the “Bongos” artist shared a TikTok, which she also posted to Instagram, of her and the “Mirrors” singer hanging out together at Tao Downtown in New York City in the nightclub’s private sky boxes. In the video, the two appeared to be having a blast as they were seated next to each other and laughing.

“I just talk with my hands🤷🏽‍♀️lol @justintimberlake love ya 💙,” the hip-hop star captioned the post, referring to how she was waving her hands at the former *NSYNC member in the viral clip.

Timberlake weighed in on the incident himself by commenting on the post. “Real hot girl s---. Never change @theestallion ❤️,” he replied to the post, which the rapper soundtracked with the J-pop band Do As Infinity's "Fuka Mori,” or one of the themes to the anime Inuyasha.

Shortly after the incident on Tuesday night, an insider also confirmed to PEOPLE what the two Grammy winners were actually saying to one another as Timberlake passed by the “Body” rapper with his *NSYNC bandmates.

The source shared, “He said, ‘It’s so nice to meet you,’ and she said, ‘No, no, this don’t count, this don’t count. We gotta meet proper.’”

A second source close to the situation told PEOPLE something similar. "Meg loves Justin," they said. "She was saying, 'No, no, no, we've never met before!' It was their first time meeting and she was excited."

Both performers had a big night at the VMAs, which was held at the Prudential Center in New Jersey.

The “Sweetest Pie” rapper debuted her latest single and collaboration with Cardi B, “Bongos” live for the first time on the MTV stage. Megan's hit song “Her” was also up for three nominations: best art direction, best direction and best choreography.

Timberlake stunned the crowd, along with his former *NSYNC bandmates, as the iconic pop group reunited to present the award for best pop video. The “Can’t Stop This Feeling” singer appeared with Chris Kirkpatrick, JC Chasez, Joey Fatone and Lance Bass on stage. They ended up thrilling Taylor Swift, who could barely contain her excitement when they eventually presented her with the Moon Person.
