Jason Momoa’s Aquaman has broken records at the worldwide box office to become the 20th highest-grossing film of all-time over the weekend. According to Box Office Mojo, the blockbuster has made over $1.13 billion so far. It stands to make even more as it hasn’t completed its run in theaters.

In making the list, it knocked Transformers: Dark of the Moon down a spot.

Since opening over the holidays in December, the superhero film has gone one to eclipse The Dark Knight Rises at the box office to become the highest-grossing DC Comics movie.

When the film crossed the $1 billion mark, director James Wan thanked fans of the character.

“Firstly, massive LOVE and THANK YOU to the fans and audiences around the world,” Wan said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. “I’ll forever be indebted to Jason for turning Aquaman into one of the coolest, cinematic superheroes ever, and becoming the gold standard for this character for generations to come.”

Momoa shared a similar sentiment on his Instagram when his hit film reached that milestone.

“My success is from my fans,” he said. “All my aloha to everyone that had a hand in making this movie.”

A sequel is in development with Wan likely to return in the director’s seat.

Aquaman is set for a digital release on March 5 and will be available on DVD and Blu-ray on March 26.
