The pair initially met in 2002 on the set of their movie Gigli. By the end of the year, the two were engaged. Their wedding date was initially scheduled for September 2003, but they postponed the Santa Barbara ceremony, citing intense media scrutiny. In January 2004, Lopez and Affleck announced their split. The stars remained friends for the next two decades, rekindling their romance following Lopez's split from Alex Rodriguez in April 2021. A year into their second go-round, the pair decided to give marriage another try. This time, they made it to the altar, tying the knot in Las Vegas on July 16, 2022. "It's a beautiful outcome that this has happened in this way at this time in our lives where we can really appreciate and celebrate each other and respect each other," wrote Lopez in her newsletter On the JLo. "We always did, but we have even more of an appreciation because we know that life can take you in different directions." Although the honeymoon ended when Lopez filed for divorce from Affleck on the second anniversary of their Georgia wedding party, the couple gave people plenty of reasons to swoon throughout their second-chance romance.
