In honor of St. Patrick's Day 2017, Billboard ranked the top musicians born, raised and/or formed in Ireland (including Northern Ireland). These are the top 10 Irish artists of all time, according to their presence on Billboard's Hot 100 chart.

10. Thin Lizzy

Fronted by Phil Lynott, these rockers had their biggest chart success with "The Boys Are Back in Town," which went to No. 12 on the Hot 100 in 1976.

9. The Irish Rovers

The folk band The Irish Rovers hit No. 7 in 1968 with their hit, "The Unicorn."

8. The Cranberries

The Cranberries, led by the late Dolores O'Riordan, climbed to No. 8 on the Hot 100 with "Linger" in 1994. The band also had Top 40 hits in 1996 with "Free to Decide" and "When You're Gone," though The Cranberries are best known for their hit "Zombie," which topped Billboard's Modern Rock Tracks chart.

7. The Script

The Script ascended to No. 12 on the Hot 100 in 2010 with the song "Breakeven," though it was originally released in 2008. Before that, The Script had two Top 40 hits with 2010's "For the First Time" and "Nothing" and had another in 2012 with "Hall of Fame" (featuring Will.i.am).

6. Enya

While she's probably better known for "Orinoco Flow" or "Only Time," Enya's biggest chart success actually came from her involvement with Mario Winans' "I Don't Wanna Know." The song went to No. 2 in 2004 and samples the Fugees' "Ready or Not," which is actually based on a slowed-down sample of Enya's 1987 tune "Boadicea." Enya opened up to Forbes in June 2016 about her song being sampled by the group.

5. Snow Patrol

Placement on season finale episodes of both One Tree Hill and Grey's Anatomy in 2006 helped the group's "Chasing Cars" hit No. 5 on the Hot 100 in 2006, as reported by The Guardian.

4. Van Morrison

Morrison's highest-charting hit isn't "Moondance" or "Brown Eyed Girl." It's the uptempo raver "Domino" from his 1970 album His Band and the Street Choir, which climbed to No. 9 on the Hot 100 in 1971. Van the Man had four other Top 40 singles, including "Wild Night."

3. Sinéad O’Connor

"Nothing Compares 2 U," a massive hit penned by Prince, climbed to No. 1 in 1990 and stayed there for four weeks, aided by O'Connor's performance in the minimalistic, marvelously emotive video. Though she never had another Top 40 hit in the United States, this one obviously had staying power.

2. Gilbert O’Sullivan

O'Sullivan's upbeat yet incredibly morose hit "Alone Again (Naturally)" ascended to the top of the Hot 100 for six weeks in 1972. However, O'Sullivan was no one-hit wonder in the United States. He had four more Top 40 hits, including "Clair," which went to No. 2 in 1972.

1. U2

U knew it had 2 be this way. (Sorry.) Bono and company sat astride the Hot 100 for three weeks in 1987 with this inescapable hit, "With or Without You." The Rock and Roll Hall of Famers have had several Top 40 hits on the Hot 100 chart.
