Speaking with Rolling Stone in an interview released Wednesday, June 5, about the highly anticipated release of her debut album Dopamine, the former Fifth Harmony member got candid about her relationship with DeKaylin "DK" Metcalf. "I’m happy. I am very happy. Definitely an answered prayer," Normani, 28, told the outlet. "I’ve experienced a lot with relationships," she continued. "I’m a real lover girl. I wear my heart on my sleeve, and finding space where that’s reciprocated feels good. I like to see myself happy. I really do." The Seattle Seahawks wide receiver, 26, even "inspired a few [songs on the album]," she said. In her conversation with Rolling Stone, Normani opened up about feeling anxious ahead of the June 14 release of Dopamine. I want to know that I put in absolutely everything that I could, that I exhausted every possibility." Ultimately, she hopes fans gather that she's "f---ing strong despite everything I've endured" from the album. "It’s a testament to my strength and my resilience and my discipline," she said. "I’m a lot more sure of myself, a lot more comfortable. I’ve done a really good job at navigating and getting back to who I am and recognizing the beauty. I’m trusting myself a lot more."
