The Real Housewives of New York City Adds Racquel Chevremont for Season 15, Making Her the Show's 2nd Queer Star

The Real Housewives of New York City will have one more apple holder for season 15.

On Thursday, June 27, Bravo announced that model turned art curator Racquel Chevremont has joined the cast of the hit franchise. She will serve as a full-time Housewife alongside returning stars Sai De Silva, Ubah Hassan, Erin Dana Lichy, Jenna Lyons, Jessel Taank and Brynn Whitfield.

As PEOPLE reported in April, designer Rebecca Minkoff will also make her debut on the show as a Friend.

Born in Brooklyn and raised in the Bronx, Chevremont, 53, will be RHONY's second queer Housewife — a milestone she told GLAAD will hopefully help bring queer representation to the forefront of reality TV.

"My entire adult life has been about representation and using whatever platform I have to get the voices of queer folks of the diaspora out there," Chevremont told the outlet. "What better way to do so if not as a member of this iconic franchise?"

"It’s exciting,” she continued. "I wasn’t sure if they were going to want two queer women on a franchise that has historically been about married heterosexual women. I think it was a bold decision and honestly a more authentic representation of NYC."

Chevremont is a mother of two kids — son Corey and daughter Elle, who often appear on her Instagram.

She's also engaged to Mel, a relationship that started after she and former collaborator Mickalene Thomas called off their engagement in 2022 (the two were an art world power couple, known as Deux Femme Noirs).

Judging from Chevremont's conversation to GLAAD, she won't be keeping her family from the RHONY cameras unlike Lyons, who told The New York Times in May that her loved ones, including new girlfriend Cass Bird, won't appear on the show,

"In the current world climate it’s important for not only our community to see themselves represented, but also for the world to get to know a queer family in a more intimate way and show that we all have more similarities than not," Chevremont told GLAAD. "Queer women can be successful, beautiful and in loving relationships raising children too. That this world exists.”

“I want to bring more queer reality into the world,” she added. "I hope that seeing me and my family and being able to relate to us regardless of your sexual orientation will perhaps change a couple of hearts and minds."

While RHONY viewers will just be meeting Chevremont, she's long made a name for herself in the art community with more than 20 years of experience working as a curator for institutions, collectors, corporations and entertainment entities. She's the one who chose all the art Nicole Ari Parker's character had in And Just Like That..., the Max spinoff of Sex and the City.

She's also the co-founder of The Josie Club, a Black, queer femme and woman-supported and operated social impact group that organizes community around collaborative event productions.
