Happy Anniversary, Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia! The Sweetest Photos From Their First Year of Marriage

From their stunning royal wedding to welcoming their first child, Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia‘s first year of marriage has been all sorts of exciting.

To mark their royal anniversary, we’re taking a look back at their sweetest (and most glamorous!) moments from their first year of marriage.

After their June wedding, the two spent a leisurely summer celebrating their nuptials. After spending their honeymoon in Fiji, the two jetted off to the French Riviera looking tanned and toned for a vacation with Sofia’s royal in-laws, King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia.

In late August, the newlyweds embarked on their first joint royal tour to the town of Arvika to visit Byanmossarna, a nature preserve. Despite the rain, the two were all smiles, telling the Swedish newspaper Expressen that they were “so happy to be here.”

In October, the couple paid a visit to the town of Älvaden, where Sofia grew up. The two wrote their names on a rock wall while Sofia reflected on coming home again. “It was pretty nervous coming home here today in an entirely new role,” she said. “It feels unbelievable.” It continued to be an “unbelievable” month for the couple: They announced they were expecting their first child just a couple weeks later.

In February, the two stunned in white tie for the first official dinner of 2016 at the royal palace in Stockholm. They were even in more glamorous than usual – Sofia in particular, who dressed her growing baby bump in a glittering gold dress.

When Sofia was eight months pregnant, the couple stopped by Stockholm’s Royal Palace to greet United Nations ambassadors – wearing a dress she borrowed from her sister-in-law, Crown Princess Victoria.

Proving that royals are just like the rest of us, Carl Philip and Sofia posed for an ultra-casual photo with their new son, Prince Alexander, as they left the hospital with their newborn in April. “For me and my wife, this is obviously a great day with a lot of emotion,” Carl Philip said while greeting the press after his son’s birth. “Words cannot describe.”

A few weeks later, the couple went glam in a series of portraits to mark Alexander’s birth – with their royal dog, too!

Just six weeks after welcoming Alexander to the world, the couple stepped out for the christening of another royal baby – nephew Prince Oscar, son of Victoria and Prince Daniel. Carl Philip and Sofia looked more in love than ever: Throughout the event, they held hands and gazed lovingly into each other’s eyes.

While honoring Sweden’s National Day, Sofia stole the show in a traditional Swedish dress, but Carl Philip looked as dapper as ever in a gray suit – and Prince Alexander made his first official appearance!
