Sister Pippa, who served as maid of honor, wore a dress by Alexander McQueen creative director Sarah Burton, just like the bride. The form-fitting, ivory satin-based crepe gown had a cowl front and 58 gazar and organza covered buttons, mirroring the bride’s dress. Younger members of the bridal party – bridesmaids Lady Louise Windsor, 7, the Hon. Margarita Armstrong-Jones, 8, and 3-year-olds Grace van Cutsem and Eliza Lopes – were outfitted by British designer Nicki Macfarlane. The four dresses were handmade by the designer – and her daughter! – at their homes in England. PHOTOS: Royal Wedding Arrivals “From the beginning, Catherine had a clear vision of what she wanted the girls to wear on the day,” Macfarlane told PEOPLE. “Her request was that the dresses were classic in design but would also echo elements of her own dress.” The miniature bridesmaid dresses were fashioned from the same fabric as her McQueen creation. Ballerina length, with box-pleated skirts, they were hand-finished with English Cluny lace, which peeked out from the bottoms of their skirts. The puff sleeves and necklines were also trimmed with the same English lace as Kate’s underskirt, and they had similar button details on the backs of their frocks. They were adorned with pale gold silk sashes, and the lining of each was hand-embroidered with the bridesmaid’s name and the date of the wedding. As for the fancy footwear, each little bridesmaid wore classic Mary Janes from England’s Rainbow Club, a wedding shoe design company. Made of satin, they were fastened with Swarovski crystal buckles. Each girl sported a lily-of-the-valley hair wreath – influenced by the topper Kate’s mom Carole wore at her own wedding – and carried a mini bouquet, similar to Kate’s flowers. “It was an absolute pleasure to work with Catherine, who was extremely involved with the design process from the outset,” Macfarlane added of the looks. “This really was a collaboration.
