Shawn Johnson Gets Candid About Dealing with Her 'Out of Wack' Postpartum Hormones After Welcoming Baby No. 3

Shawn Johnson East is opening up her postpartum experience after welcoming her son Barrett "Bear" Madison East in December 2023 with her husband Andrew East.

The retired Olympic gymnast, 32, conducted a Q&A on her Instagram Stories on Sunday, July 14, where she candidly spoke about her postpartum depression journey, detailing the "customized supplements" she used to resolve her "out of wack" hormones.

"Very personal but did you end up taking medication for your postpartum depression?" one follower asked.

"I didn't," the mom of three explained. "BUT I did do a full hormone and blood panel and had customized supplements made from the results wirh @joiwomenswellness and it changed my life."

She continued, "I had some major hormones out of wack from pregnancy and postpartum that we are working to get back on track"

The gymnast and NFL star welcomed Bear on Dec. 12, 2023, confirming the news via the pair's FamilyMade newsletter. Johnson East later posted photos of the newborn on Instagram and included the date "12•12•23" and a bear emoji in the post's caption, which appeared to be a hint about the baby's name.

On Dec. 17, she finally revealed the details her fans had been waiting for — the baby's sex and name. "Barrett “Bear” Madison East… @bearmadisoneast. We’ve all been waiting for you 🩵," she wrote, officially announcing her son, under a sweet photo of her family on Instagram.

"Our baby boy has finally arrived, and we couldn't be more thrilled," the couple shared with PEOPLE in a statement. "Both baby and mom are doing great, and we are counting our blessings!"

The couple is also parents to daughter Drew Hazel, 4, and Jett James, 2.
