Lea Michele Says Darren Criss 'Better' Perform at Her Wedding: 'I'm Performing at His!'

The actress shares even more details about her upcoming nuptials

Lea Michele may still not be so sure when she wants to have her wedding just yet, but she does know one thing. Darren Criss “better” perform for her and soon-to-be husband Zandy Reich.

“I’m performing at his wedding!” Michele, 32, told Brides at a Zola launch party in N.Y.C. “Darren and I are such great friends. He’s like a brother to me, so the fact that we’re in this really sort of important moment in our lives at the same time is really special.”

The actress is also grateful to have Criss’ fiancé Mia Swier to bounce ideas off of as she’s in the midst of planning her own nuptials.

“We’ve known each other for so many years now It’s just been great to have another bride that’s going through this process,” she said. “Just being like ‘what did you do for this?’ ‘What did you try for that?’ because it is a lot of information to funnel through.”

But Michele, who got engaged in April 2018, isn’t in any rush to walk down the aisle. “We’re really taking our time to make sure we’re really happy because we are from the East Coast but we live on the West Coast. So it could be an East Coast wedding, it could be a West Coast wedding, it could be a Montana wedding, so we’re really just taking our time to just make sure we know exactly where we want to be,” she explained.

She has already confirmed that she found her dream wedding dress (it was the first one she tried on!), and though Michele won’t reveal who the designer is, she did share some details about the design.

“Someone said to me and my fiancé, ‘You want to look at your photos and feel like it’s classic,’ and I think a lot of people go on trends, and I think that that’s great, but I want to look back and feel like this is a classic this will look good, stand the test of time,” Michele said.

As for her officiant, the actress asked someone very close to her heart. “I have asked [Glee and Scream Queens creator] Ryan Murphy if he will officiate my wedding,” she revealed.

Michele already announced close friend Jonathan Groff as her maid of honor. She shared the happy news alongside a sweet snap of the pair cozying up for a selfie on the beach a few weeks after getting engaged.

Michele announced her engagement on Instagram in late April, posting a photo of herself with her ring-bearing hand on her face. “Yes,” she wrote in the caption, including a diamond ring emoji.

She later revealed during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen that Reich, her boyfriend of over a year, surprised her with the proposal while they were in the Hamptons. Reich gave Michele a four-carat diamond ring personally designed for the bride-to-be with Leor Yerushalmi and The Jewelers of Las Vegas.

“It was a super private proposal,” a friend of the actress told PEOPLE just days after the big moment. “Their relationship has been very private, but they’re so happy. It was so romantic and she’s just so excited and feels so lucky. He’s a really nice guy. Lea is extremely happy.”
