Molly Sims Joins Garnier as Lifestyle Expert, Shares Her Skincare Secrets and More with PeopleStyle!

Molly Sims describes herself as a “hip momma” in her Instagram bio, and we couldn’t agree more. The multi-hyphenate star and mom of two serves up #beautygoals to all ages, so of course she’s been tapped by Garnier as the brand’s lifestyle expert for its skincare line, Garnier SkinActive.

PeopleStyle caught up with Sims, 42, to find out how she’s balanced her career with starting a family (she has two toddlers!), and to get all the scoop on her beauty routine and beyond. Here’s what we learned:

• She’s Been Using the Same Skincare Product for Two Decades … and Swears by It

“I started using micellar water 20 years ago when I was modeling in Europe. I have quite combination skin so I’m quite oily, and I’m quite dry. It gives moisture but also acts as a toner and a cleanser. It’s really gentle on the face, and it’s really moisturizing so it doesn’t strip your skin. Also, I constantly have makeup on and off, and this takes it off in a really gentle way. So when Garnier introduced its own micellar water, I was 100 percent on board.”

• Her Other Hero Product Can Be Found in the Pantry

“I swear by almond oil. I have eczema off and on and my son has it too and I just bathe us in it. Literally. I was showering with my baby yesterday, and I like soaked her in it too. When I have really heavy makeup on it’s really good as an eye makeup remover, and it’s also great as a hair masque. Run almond oil through your hair, tie it up, put a little plastic bag over it and sleep in it. I’m telling you it’s amazing.”

• It Takes 5 Hours to Perfect Her Signature Blonde

“My hair always looks so good after I visit Tracey Cunningham [Hollywood colorist]. I just went and she was likes ‘I need to dry you and then wait and then do some more highlights … I just want to make sure in case you do all your different parts.’ I was like, ‘Tracey you’re killing me.’ Five hours later, I’m all set.”

• Her Husband Prefers Her Completely Barefaced

“He likes me when I don’t have any makeup on. He likes me when I’m in jeans and a T-shirt.”

• Her 3-year-old son knows when she’s headed for the red carpet

“I was getting ready for the Vanity Fair Oscars Party, and he looked up at me and he goes, ‘Mama, that’s so beautiful.’ Kids also start to emulate your routine. Bushing your teeth, taking off your makeup. Kids learn from ritual.”

• She’s Happy Bodysuits are Back

“I like that tight on top you know with like a flare pant a little bit of lace. I’ve always liked showing a little bit of skin. I like the cutout trend too, but only in small parts. I when everything is covered then there is a slice of skin.”

• She’s Fallen Victim to a Selfie Fail
“I was breast-feeding and I was trying to take a selfie of me and my daughter, and I dropped the phone on her head! I was like, ‘What is happening? What am I doing right now? This is not working!’ I wasn’t even trying to post it or anything I was literally trying to take a picture of how sweet she was, and I totally dropped the phone.”
