The Suits franchise is expanding!

On July 19, NBCUniversal announced Suits: L.A. — the upcoming spinoff which is set in the same universe as the original legal drama — has been picked up for a series order. The network also released a first look at the upcoming series.

Arrow alum Stephen Amell will lead the cast as Ted Black, who is seen at his desk in the first picture from the show. Black is a “former federal prosecutor from New York" who "has reinvented himself representing the most powerful clients in Los Angeles," according to the show’s official description.

“His firm is at a crisis point and to survive he must embrace a role he held in contempt his entire career,” the description continues. “Ted is surrounded by a stellar group of characters who test their loyalties to both Ted and each other while they can’t help but mix their personal and professional lives.”

Amell, 43, previously told PEOPLE of the new role: "I'm very excited. It's something very new and different for me — talky-talky, not punchy-punchy."

The cast will also include The Walking Dead actor Josh McDermitt as Stuart Lane, the co-founder of Black Lane Law, and Lex Scott Davis as Erica Rollins, "a savvy and strong-willed rising star who works for Ted Black," per Deadline

Other cast members include Troy Winbush as Kevin, Alice Lee as Leah and Bryan Greenberg as Rick Dodsen.

The upcoming series — which was first announced by NBCUniversal in February and will be helmed by original Suits creator Aaron Korsh — comes on the heels of the original series having a huge resurgence on Netflix.

After hitting the streamer in June 2023, the series starring Gabriel Macht, Patrick J. Adams, Meghan Markle, Rick Hoffman and Sarah Rafferty set a new record as the most viewed acquired streaming title nearly four years after its series finale.

The show, which followed the exploits of Adams’ character Mike Ross who manages to talk his way into a job as a lawyer despite having never attended law school, aired from June 2011 to September 2019. Suits previously had another spinoff titled Pearson starring Gina Torres’s character that premiered in July 2019 and ran for 10 episodes before it was canceled.

While there has been no announcements about OG stars reprising their roles on the upcoming series, Adams, 42, noted that he would be open to coming on board

“If we got the phone call, if I got the phone call, I'm ready to suit up again,” he told Entertainment Tonight. “I love the show, I love the character. And I loved working with all these people."
