  • Ford and Robillard shared much of their relationship on social media before the split

Weeks after announcing her shocking split from Cincinnati Bengals offensive guard Cody Ford, social media star Tianna Robillard is opening up about what led to the end of the couple's engagement.

Robillard, 28, was a guest on Alix Earle's Hot Mess podcast on July 17 and spoke about her relationship with Ford, 27, and why she called off their wedding in June. The couple had gotten engaged just two months prior in April.

Robillard confirmed she met Ford back in February 2022 after she moved to Dallas for work. “His best childhood friend ran in my friend group,” she recounted. “My coworker had a friend group I would hang out in and they were like 'Hey we have a guy for you.' "

After initial hesitance to connect with Ford, Robillard said that she was encouraged by their mutual friends: It "[made it feel like] he was almost vetted and I felt like 'He's got to be a good person since I'm friends with these people and they're all really great and have good heads on their shoulders.' "

The two started dating in April 2022, with Robillard calling their initial meeting a “slow burn” before their chemistry grew.

The couple were together for two years before Ford proposed to Robillard in April. “I was all in,” she recalled. “Making a commitment that big for the first time was scary, but I was ready, and I’m still ready for marriage now.”

Robillard said she didn’t have any “doubts,” but noted that the couple did “struggle” during the early months of their relationship with “trust stuff," which continued until their engagement this year. When Ford proposed, Robillard said she felt like their relationship was “on the right track” and was ready to go all in “full throttle.”

The influencer said she had started planning their wedding in Dallas when their relationship took a turn. Robillard was in Paris for a girls trip around the end of May when she felt her “communication" was “weird” with Ford.

The day she got home from Paris, Robillard said she went live on TikTok and received messages seemingly alleging Ford had been deceiving her.

“I looked through my messages and I found what I needed” and “got receipts” that Ford allegedly cheated on her. She told Earle that she knew that she had to leave after she found out.

“Everything felt fake,” she said at the time. "You got down on one knee a month before this, like who am I with?”

“My therapist and I called him and let him know what was going on and I told him ‘I gotta go,' " said Robillard, alleging that it was not the first instance of cheating during their relationship. "All the work we've done over the past year and a half after the first time was for nothing. I was like, 'I gotta get out of here.' "

Of walking away from the romance, Robillard said, "I left everything and I have to rebuild everything."

A representative for Ford did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment on Robillard's allegations. Screen recordings shared by fans on TikTok appear to show the athlete livestreaming while he watched the Hot Mess podcast episode via Twitch, but the livestream video is not available on Ford's Twitch page and its unclear if the clips were actually of the football player. PEOPLE was unable to confirm the authenticity.

In the recorded fan footage, the man who is alleged to be Ford said that "there are a lot of conspiracies out there about what happened [between us] and none of them have been correct."

Robillard posted about the breakup on TikTok back in June and said she would “always” love Ford, “but some things are unrecoverable, and I just pray for healing and for him to be okay at the end of the day."

“One thing I can say, I would love, just love to be spread to both him and I during this time, no matter what. Like I hope he receives love and light,” she concluded in her post.

She later spoke about sharing her breakup news publicly on social media and said she “didn’t want to post about it” at first.

“I didn’t know what it was gonna bring and I didn’t know it would blow up like it did,” she said. “But I’m glad I did.”

Said Robillard, "If I can show the heartache and that you can come out on the other end [okay], then I’m all for sharing my story."
