5 Things to Know About 'Dancing with the Stars' Newbie and Boyz II Men Singer Wanya Morris

All about the R&B singer's Grammy wins – and what FLOTUS has to say about him!

Wanya Morris is known for delivering boy band charm since the 90s. But can he hit the dance floor like he can hit a note? This 1/3 of Boyz II Men is ready to put his moves to the test on ABC’s 22nd season of Dancing with the Stars

1. Boyz II Men used to be a quintet.
Morris started his R&B group career young, when he was approached by fellow classmates Nathan Morris and Marc Nelson at the Philadelphia High School for Creative Performing Arts. Shawn Stockman and Michael McCary rounded out the group, but Nelson left soon after and McCary left the group in 2003.

2. He’s a four-time Grammy award winner.
The group has taken home four Grammys, for best R&B performance by a duo or Group with vocal in 1991, 1992 and 1994, and best R&B album in 1994. Their first single for their 1991 album Cooleyhighharmony reached No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 list – and the lyrics chronicled their start. “One day back in Philly/Four guys wanted to sing they came up to me I said/’What’s your name? Ya know what I’m saying.’ ”

3. The First Lady is a fan.
While providing a keynote address at the SXSW Music Conference, Michelle Obama described her experience in the White House by breaking into Boyz II Men’s hit song, “It’s So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday.” Just as the First Lady dedicated this song to the end of her husband’s time n the White House, Boyz II Men rededicated the song to their late tour manager Khalil Rountree after he was shot and killed in Chicago in 1992.

4. The Boyz are making a comeback.
Boyz II Men has been a reunion tour around the world and are currently making their way across the U.S. They also had a cameo in Grease: Live! on Fox and performed the song “Beauty School Dropout” with Carly Rae Jepsen.

5. He’s getting into the social media game!
After announcing his partnership with professional dancer Lindsay Arnold in early March, Morris showed that his gave him more than just advice on the dance floor. Arnold posted a video introducing Morris to Snapchat. You can find him on the app under the username @wanyamorris1.

Dancing with the Stars premieres Monday at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
