It's no surprise primetime TV's highest-paid actress would have a trailer on set that's fit for a queen. When it came to her latest renovation, Grey's Anatomy's Ellen Pompeo tapped her friend, designer Jeremiah Brent (with Pompeo and his husband Nate Berkus), to bring her vision to life.

"Every few years Ellen likes to change up her trailer," Brent tells PEOPLE exclusively. "It's a home away from home where she spends a majority of her time."

"The most important aspect was to play with different textures to create an environment that felt rooted in nature and serenity," says the designer, who chose to wallpaper the ceiling with FJ Hakimian's dark raffia two-tone herringbone wave and floors by Urban Surfaces. "A curated color palette was crucial. We decided to introduce Venetian plasters in different tones of light grays and creams to create a relaxing and comforting atmosphere while giving the space warmth and texture."

"Ellen was looking to create a multi-hyphenated space — a place to prepare for scenes, to conduct business, take lunch meetings, have her kids come to play, have dinner with mom, take naps and so on," says Brent.

"My personal favorite is the organization and functionality," says Brent about the trailer. "We were able to create a new daybed space, a new Murphy bed that not only introduces function but additional storage."

"Ellen has an incredibly refined eye. Her taste is sophisticated but with an eye for comfort, and we wanted the space to reflect that while still having a well-traveled and warm look," says Brent.

Brent chose a dining table by CB2 and dining chairs by France & Son to complete the space.

Brent — who brought in new sconces by Kelly Wearstler — also reimagined "the kitchen space in a way that was more organized and beautiful to look at," he says. The updated space includes a built-in bar and quartz countertops.

"Ellen is the type of person who you just love being around and soaking up her energy," says Brent. "I hope the space reflects her depth and gives her a little taste of home wherever her work takes her."
