Michael Sheen Plays an Angel Teaming Up with a Demon to Save the World in 'Good Omens' Trailer

The upcoming Amazon series is based on the 1990 cult-classic novel by Neil Gaiman and the late Terry Pratchett

Armageddon is upon us — at least, it is in the newly released trailer for Good Omens.

Based on the 1990 cult-classic novel by Neil Gaiman and the late Terry Pratchett, the upcoming Amazon series follows an unlikely duo — a fussy angel (Michael Sheen) and a loose-living demon (David Tennant) — who form an unlikely alliance to stop Armageddon, even though, as Sheen’s character points out, they’re “hereditary enemies.” But they’ve lost the Antichrist, an 11-year-old boy unaware he’s meant to bring upon the end of days, forcing them to embark on an adventure to find him and save the world before it’s too late.

“We have to work together,” the demon says.

“We have nothing whatsoever in common,” the angel protests. “I don’t even like you!”

The series also stars Jon Hamm as a purple-eyed Angel Gabriel, Nick Offerman, and Jack Whitehall. Gaiman serves as an executive producer.

“It’s such a unique world that [Neil Gaiman] and Terry [Pratchett] have created,” Tennant previously told Entertainment Weekly. “If anyone else had taken it on, I don’t think we could have captured the real quirky essence of it.”

Good Omens premieres May 31 on Amazon Prime Video.
