Jerry O'Connell Recalls the Moment He Met 'Newly Single' Rebecca Romijn: 'I Was Super Flexing'

"It was a pool party, so I took my shirt off, I did some pushups and got some oil. I was super flexing," said Jerry O'Connell

Jerry O’Connell is feeling the love!

While guest-hosting The Wendy Williams Show on Thursday, the actor welcomed his wife of 11 years, Rebecca Romijn, to the stage to recall the (second) day they met.

“We met at a Maxim Hot 100 party in Las Vegas. True story,” Romijn, 46, said. “It was a pool party in Las Vegas.”

“Just to give a little more details, Rebecca was in the VIP section of the party and I was not,” O’Connell, 47, added. “I saw you in the VIP section and you were newly single and I was like, ‘I got to get some of that, right there.’ It was a pool party, so I took my shirt off, I did some pushups right there and got some oil. I was super flexing. I had met my wife once before that at the time. But through the rope I was like, ‘Hey, Rebecca!’ ”

“He looked good,” Romijn said. “He was in a bathing suit.”

Eventually O’Connell, who managed to get past the rope, was able to sit with Romijn and exchange numbers.

“We had a couple dates in Las Vegas and then I flew home and I needed a ride home from he airport and I called Jerry and he drove me home and basically never left,” said Romijn.

The couple wed in 2007 and now share 10-year-old twin daughters, Charlie and Dolly.

Since tying the knot, the couple has been intentional about keeping the romance alive.

“I’d say we have a pretty romantic relationship,” said O’Connell.

“I would say so,” agreed Romijn. “You’ve been doing those secret date nights for the last year. Whenever there’s a movie coming out that he knows I would like — there were four of them in a row last year and every weekend he would take me out, not tell me what we were seeing, made me cover my eyes when we’re walking into the theater, took me out to dinner, took me to a movie. There were four great movies in a row. I love mystery dates!”

“And listen, it’s tough because we have two creaming 10 year olds running around our house,” he shared.

One of the things that they enjoy doing together is watching reality television. “We love our Real Housewives shows. It really bonds us,” admitted O’Connell. “I mean, we watch them together.”

While sitting in the “hot seat,” O’Connell proceeded to turn up the heat up on his wife’s interview questions.

“We’ve been married for 11 years. Why did it take you nine years of marriage to legally change your name to O’Connell?” he asked.

“I gotta be honest, to change your name on your driver’s license you have to stand in line at the DMV for like four hours,” explained Romijn, who was previously married to John Stamos, “and I was too lazy to do that. I still had Stamos on my license — my ex-husband’s [John Stamos] name until two years ago. And when I went to finally change it, Jerry goes, ‘Are you dropping Stamos?’ And I said, ‘Yeah.’ And he goes, ‘Can I have it?’ ”

Things got even hotter, though, when O’Connell asked his bride “if there was one part of my body you could change, what would it be?”

Not holding back, a laughing Romijn said, “Endurance,” and added, “I told you, I’ve gotta be honest.”

Defending himself, O’Connell said, “Sometimes I’m a little fast, okay. I mean, it happens sometimes. Listen, it’s a difficult — we have kids running around. Sometimes it’s like, ‘You have 10 seconds to do this right now. You have 10 seconds, go, go, go, go go!’ And you have to like train yourself to be fast.”

“It’s true, that’s us,” she said.

Speaking with PEOPLE and Entertainment Weekly‘s Editorial Director Jess Cagle in 2017, O’Connell recalled the very first time he met a then-married Romijn and the connection they had.

“I met my wife and her ex John Stamos at a party when they were married. I remember thinking, ‘Wow. This girl is really beautiful and funny.’ I talked to her the whole party. My wife remembers that party and remembers us clicking. We clicked. My wife and I clicked. We clicked the first time we met,” O’Connell admitted about meeting Romijn more than a decade ago at a Maxim party.

“Obviously, she was married, and I know shenanigans go on, but no shenanigans happened. But we clicked. Day one, we clicked,” said O’Connell about Romijn, who finalized her divorce from Stamos in 2005. “I want to tell you this about my wife, and my wife says it funnier than I do, but we met. We started hanging out. I came for a sleepover … and I never left. That’s the truth. We just clicked.”
