Khloé Kardashian Only 'Fake-Tried' to Have Kids with Lamar Odom: 'I Did a Lot of Covering Up for Him'

"I knew it wasn't the right situation to bring a child into," says Khloé Kardashian of her marriage to Lamar Odom, who has struggled with substance abuse

Update: Khloé is pregnant! On Tuesday PEOPLE revealed that she and Tristan Thompson are expecting their first child. It comes just days after it was revealed that little sister Kylie Jenner is also expecting!

Khloé Kardashian‘s offer to be her sister Kim Kardashian West‘s surrogate is revealing more about herself than she might have expected.

In a previously released sneak peek at Sunday’s season finale of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Kim takes her sister to her fertility specialist and Khloé receives some shocking news about her own fertility — and now, a second sneak peek at the scene touches on Khloé’s relationship with her ex-husband Lamar Odom.

In the clip, the doctor asks Khloé if she’s ever tried to get pregnant before, and the star admits she “fake-tried.”

“I was married, but I knew the circumstances weren’t the healthiest so I just kept pretending I was doing it,” says Khloé, 32, who wed Odom, 37, in 2009 after a whirlwind, month-long courtship.

“When I was doing my fertility treatments, they were more so for Lamar,” she continues. “I had to stop because there was much deeper stuff that was happening in our marriage.”

Khloé and Odom’s marriage fell apart after the former basketball player’s cheating scandal and drug relapse, and Kardashian filed for divorce in 2013.

“I knew it wasn’t the right situation to bring a child into, and I think I’ve done a lot of covering up for him — even when it made me look like I was the problem,” says Khloé in the clip. “But I was fine taking on that burden on my shoulders, because he had a lot of other deeper s— to deal with.”

Khloé and Odom’s divorce was officially finalized last December, and the two have since gone their separate ways: Odom recently completed a 30-day drug rehab program and has been working on getting back into shape, and Kardashian has been dating Cleveland Cavaliers player Tristan Thompson since last September.

The Keeping Up with the Kardashians season finale airs Sunday at 9 p.m. ET on E!
