Nyle DiMarco won over the America’s Next Top Model judges (and adoring viewers) with his captivating blue eyes and chiseled abs on cycle 22 of the reality competition show – and now he’s taken home the Mirrorball trophy on this season of Dancing with the Stars.

But there’s more to the model than his Adonis-like looks. Here are five things to know about the 27-year-old DWTS champ.

1. He was the first deaf contestant – and winner – to appear on America’s Next Top Model.
“Being a deaf person on a television show alone is pretty groundbreaking, so it felt incredible just to be on the show – but to win it was amazing!” DiMarco told PEOPLE in December.

2. He’s also an actor.
DiMarco played the recurring character Garrett Banducci on Switched at Birth from 2014 15. He has also played the lead in the independent film In the Can, an American Sign Language Films production.

3. He has spoken out about identifying as sexually fluid.
When asked by a fan on Twitter if he preferred to date males or females, DiMarco responded that he is “fluid” and shared a link to an Everyday Feminism article explaining that people who are sexually fluid “are either always attracted to more than one gender or feel that their attraction may shift depending on factors like time, intimacy with certain partners, changes in hormone levels and so forth.”

4. He has a fraternal twin brother – who is a redhead!
DiMarco has a twin named Nico who is a DJ, who watched Nyle rack up perfect scores several times this season.

5. He didn’t think he’d be a good dancer before he started rehearsals for DWTS.
“I’m surprising myself that I actually can dance,” he said in his PEOPLE vlog. “Peta [Murgatroyd], my partner, was also surprised that I can dance!”
