Braunwyn Windham-Burke Says 'RHOC' Cast Has Been 'Pretty Unsupportive' of Her: 'That Was Shocking'

The Real Housewives of Orange County star recently came out as a lesbian and began sobriety last year, issues that played out on the show's most recent season

Braunwyn Windham-Burke says at least one of her costars has been supportive of her coming out as a lesbian.

The Real Housewives of Orange County star, 43, came out last month, revealing that she is attracted to women and has a girlfriend named Kris (whom she met on Tinder), though she remainss married to husband Sean, with whom she shares seven children. "I'm so happy where I am. To be able to be comfortable in my own skin after so long is just so nice," she said in a conversation with GLAAD in December.

Appearing on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on Wednesday, following the RHOC season finale, Windham-Burke explained who has been most supportive of her since going public and living her truth.

"From my own show, my biggest supporter has been Gina," she said, referring to Gina Kirschenheiter, then adding that "from all the shows" Heather Gay from Real Housewives Salt Lake City also supports her.

"My cast has been pretty unsupportive, you know, in a lot of issues in my life," added Windham-Burke with a sigh. "That was shocking."

Windham-Burke also revealed last year that she is a recovering alcoholic, living a sober lifestyle while continuing to star on the Bravo reality series. Addressing some of her costars' response to her battling with addiction on RHOC — and claims that it was "all for a storyline" — she said their responses have been "cruel."

"When someone says to you, 'I'm an alcoholic and I'm trying to be sober,' there's only one response, and that's, 'How can I help?' " she said. "For people with such a large platform to be so cruel and unkind about this was really, really shocking to me."

Last month, Windham-Burke opened up about other Bravo stars who have been supportive of her. She made an Instagram post at the time, telling her followers that it was a space where they could air their opinions about her after she came out as a lesbian the week before, writing at the time, "get it out and then we can move on."

One fan took the opportunity to question Windham-Burke's friendship with RHOC alum Tamra Judge, warning the reality star to "Stay away from Tamra. Be careful." Windham-Burke replied to the fan, explaining that Judge is the "only person" from RHOC that has supported her.

Explaining Judge's support at the time, the mom of seven wrote, "She knew I was sober and kept it to herself, she knew we were struggling with our daughters mental health issues and listened, she got me through a day that was so hard I was physically shaking ...Whatever you think you know, you don't."
